Owners, Kelly & David lived in Somerset County, NJ for most of their married lives. Having owned a home in Branchville, NJ for 11 years, they realized that Sussex County was becoming more and more like home to them. They loved the natural landscape, the friends they had made, and the year round beauty of Sussex County. So, they began their search for a business that would support them year-round, make use of Dave's years of sales experience, honor their love of food and decor, and most of all provide them with a way to serve the community they love by creating a gathering place.

As it turns out, Fresh Pickins was for sale. Building a business plan that incorporated what the old store had to offer along with a blue print that included many new ideas - a coffee bar, artisan breads, tasty treats and more, they took the plunge and bought the store.

Enlisting the help of their friends and Tom & Jeannie Eberhardt they turned the store upside down and created Fresh Pickins. With a new store design, logo and purchasing strategy, Kelly & Dave wanted to be sure they were creating a place for the year round locals as well as the visiting summer crowd.
